Tea is the first blockchain designed to sustainably fund and reward open-source software (OSS). OSS powers billions of devices and services, yet its creators often work unpaid, creating systemic risks. Tea addresses this by rewarding verified maintainers, making OSS resilient and investable.
Built as a custom Optimism-based Layer 2 in testnet, Tea uses CHAI to rank over 3M OSS packages and reward contributors directly via their GPG keys. TEA serves for gas, staking, and governance within teaDAO, where early stakers help secure the OSS ecosystem and guide policy.
Founded by Max Howell (creator of Homebrew) and Timothy Lewis, Tea aims to create a transparent, rewarding “Universal App Store” for secure and neutral innovation.
